Complex Spine Fellow

Dr Karthikeyan Maharajan graduated his MBBS in 2008 from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry, India JIPMER is an Institute of National Importance with a bed strength of 1500 imparting undergraduate, postgraduate and super specialty training programs.

Dr. Karthikeyan completed his postgraduate training (M.S) in Orthopedic Surgery in 2012 from JIPMER. After practicing as a general orthopaedic surgeon in India for 2 years, he had an opportunity to work in the Department of Orthopedics, National University Hospital, Singapore where he developed interest in spine surgery while working under his supervisor A/Prof Naresh Kumar.  He then went on to pursue his fellowship training in spine surgery in Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark under Prof Cody Bunger and in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, India.

He current position is Complex Spine Fellow here at Macquarie Neurosurgery and is undertaking a Master of Advanced Surgery through Macquarie University under the guidance of Professor Marcus Stoodley. He has special interests in spine tumours and deformity and has published papers in peer reviewed journals on the same.
