Dr Johnny Wong was a PhD candidate with the Australian School of Advanced Medicine and a research scholar at Macquarie Neurosurgery from 2010 to 2011. Since then, he completed his research on the pathophysiology of post-traumatic syringomyelia under the supervision of Professor Marcus Stoodley. For this research, he was nominated for the Macquarie University Research Excellence Awards in 2013, as well as, being awarded a PhD degree for his thesis. In addition, Dr Wong completed his neurosurgical training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. He obtained his fellowship in neurosurgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013, and will undertake a position as a clinical fellow in cerebrovascular surgery at Toronto Western Hospital in 2014.
