Dr. Leon Lai is currently a PhD scholar at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Macquarie University), under the guidance of Professor Michael Morgan and Professor Alberto Avolio. His current research is focused on understanding the formation, growth and rupture risk in cerebral aneurysms by studying the biomechanical and haemodynamic factors in blood vessels at the base of the brain. Dr. Lai completed his medical studies (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 2004, and went on to complete his internship and residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Victoria.
He has been an accredited neurosurgical registrar on the SET Neurosurgery training program with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons since 2008. His specialty interests include; Complex Intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations of the brain, intracranial tumours and Skull Base Surgery.
